McLeodganj Triund is a popular trekking destination located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. McLeodganj, also known as "Little Lhasa," is a suburb of Dharamshala and serves as the residence of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile. The trek to Triund starts from McLeodganj and is a moderately challenging route that takes trekkers through lush green forests of oak, rhododendron, and deodar trees, offering breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar mountain range. Triund, situated at an altitude of about 2,850 meters (9,350 feet), is known for its expansive grassy meadows that provide a perfect camping spot with a panoramic view of the snow-capped peaks and the Kangra Valley below. The trek is approximately 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) long and takes around 4-6 hours to complete, making it suitable for beginners as well as experienced trekkers. The best time to undertake this trek is from March to June and September to December, when the weather is most favorable.
